Top 10 Best Hacking / Tech Movies You Must Watch In 2018
If you're reading this, it means you love movies as much as I do. I love movies too, it's my thing—my other way of exploring the world when I can't afford travelling. But among all the genres of movies, I very much love the ones related to hacking or tech the most. They are innovative and they inspire me to tech. Have you ever heard of this saying, “We live in such a special time when literally anything we can think of is possible,” by Daniel Willey, right? Well, you've got to believe it, because most of the fantasy shown in some hacking or tech fiction movies has already been available in real life.

I’ve tried and compiled a list of the top ten (10) that you shouldn’t miss. The list consists of hacking, tech, and AI (Artificial Intelligence). They will thrill you and make you stay up at night. You can find some of them on Netflix or stream via some other services.
1. The Circle
The first on the list is The Circle. The movie was released early this year, it is a story of a young lady, Mae Holland (Emma Watson), who seizes the opportunity of a lifetime when she lands a job with the world's most powerful technology and social media company. Encouraged by the company's founder, she joins a groundbreaking experiment that pushes the boundaries of privacy, ethics and personal freedom. Her participation in the experiment, and every decision she makes, soon starts to affect the lives and futures of her friends, family and that of humanity.
2. Mr Robot
Next is the almighty Mr Robot. The TV Series that exhilarate noobs and hackers all over the world. It is a story about a young, anti-social computer programmer, Elliot, who works as a cybersecurity engineer during the day, but at night, he is a vigilante hacker. He is recruited by the mysterious leader of an underground group of hackers to join their organisation. Elliot's task is to help bring down corporate America, including the company he is paid to protect, which presents him with a moral dilemma. Although he works for a corporation, his personal beliefs make it hard to resist the urge to take down the heads of multinational companies that he believes are running — and ruining — the world.
3. Transcendence
One of the best movies on AI. It is about a scientist, the world's foremost authority on artificial intelligence, Dr. Will Caster (Johnny Depp) is conducting highly controversial experiments to create a sentient machine. When extremists try to kill him, they inadvertently become the catalyst for him to succeed. Will's wife, Evelyn (Rebecca Hall), and best friend, Max (Paul Bettany), can only watch as his thirst for knowledge evolves to an omnipresent quest for power, and his loved ones soon realise that it may be impossible to stop him.
4. Silicon Valley
The fourth on the list is Silicon Valley. Partially inspired by co-creator Mike Judge's experiences as a Silicon Valley engineer in the 1980s, it is a comedy series that follows the misadventures of introverted computer programmer Richard and his brainy friends as they attempt to strike it rich in a high-tech gold rush. They live together in a Bay Area startup incubator loosely run by self-satisfied dot-com millionaire Erlich, who lets them stay in his house rent-free in exchange for a stake in the projects they invent there. But when Richard develops a powerful search algorithm at his day job, he finds himself caught in the middle of a bidding war between his boss -- whose firm offers Richard an eight-figure buyout—— and a deep-pocketed venture capitalist.
5. The Internship
After old-school salesmen Billy (Vince Vaughn) and Nick (Owen Wilson) find themselves downsized, Billy decides that, despite their complete lack of technological savvy, they should work for Google. The friends somehow manage to finagle internships at the Internet giant and promptly head out to Silicon Valley. Viewed with disdain by most of their fellow interns, Billy and Nick join forces with the rest of the misfit "nooglers" to make it through a series of competitive team challenges.

9. Who Am I 2014
If you want to watch a hacker movie with a gripping story which also gets the technical details right, watch Who Am I: No System is Safe. It's a German film directed by Baran bo Odar. About a young teenager, Benjamin, a computer whiz, is invited to join a subversive hacker group that wants to be noticed on the world's stage.
10. The Hacker Wars
The last but not the least, The Hacker Wars is a 2014 documentary film about hacktivism in the United States, directed by Vivien Lesnik Weisman. It's not that fictitious, but trust me, you are going to like it. It will take you to the front lines of the high-stakes battle over the fate of the Internet, freedom and privacy.
